We’re excited to share that the Institute of Swimming is officially launching the brand-new SEQ Level 3 Managing Learn to Swim Programmes Qualification, a refreshed and fully updated version of the previous Level 3 Swim Coordinator course.

Over the past year, we’ve been listening closely to operators, tutors and leaders in the sector. Their feedback shaped every part of the new qualification, ensuring it truly reflects what today’s swim programme managers need.

The first course will be delivered by experienced tutor Katy Butterfield, who has been closely involved in shaping the new approach.

“We wanted this qualification to reflect real life in a learn to swim programme, not just theory. It brings together leadership, safeguarding, programme planning and customer experience so coordinators feel confident delivering safe, high-quality lessons” Katy Butterfield, tutor.

The Institute of Swimming worked closely with several operators to pilot and refine the content before launch, ensuring the new Level 3 course is exactly what the industry needed.

The qualification has been designed for both experienced swim school coordinators and those looking to progress into the role. While holding the SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification is recommended, it isn’t a requirement, opening up the pathway for more aspiring leaders to take the next step in their career.

Learners will take part in interactive online webinars with an expert tutor and complete an external assessment. The course explores the core elements of running an effective Learn to Swim programme, including safeguarding and safety standards, staff leadership and development, customer experience and retention, and using data to drive improvement. The new structure brings learning to life through practical activities and realistic case studies.
